Proving that the kids are still alright Coventry’s celebration for the over 50’s in October intends to culminate in a response to Jimi Hendrix's “Are You Experienced” with a concert on Saturday 6th October at the Albany Club in Earlsdon. The concert entitled Fade to Grey is in an advanced stage of planning and will feature up to 16 bands on three stages bringing together all ages within the community through music” In the lounge there is the World Music Stage comprising mainly acoustic sets free for all club members and visitors. This will continue the club's tradition of providing top class entertainment with a range of styles not normally associated with the Social Club scene. In the concert room some of Coventry’s top bands will be performing. In the Club's car park there is The Coors sponsored Festival Marquee with a bar and small acoustic stage inside.There are food stalls to keep us all going, stalls promoting Age Concern and Help the Aged and some craft stalls. All the money raised is going to Age Concern's activites at the Gilbert Richards Centre and Barclays Bank have donated £1000 in line with their Community Investment Programme. There is also a raffle with some great prizes for which you are automatically entered when you buy a ticket. Tickets for the concert cost £8.00 and all the bands are playing for free with the proceeds going to support the Age Concern activities at the Gilbert Richard Centre in Broadway, Earlsdon. Some of the bands will have CD’s for sale and other stalls and food will be available. The event has been made possible through the generous support of the Albany Club and Barclays bank Plc who are match funding the event as part of their community Investment programme. Many local traders have donated prizes for a super raffle. So let the good times roll and show them we are not ready to “Fade Away”
