| Subscriptions and new members | It's that time of year again when you must renew your subs and we'll be welcoming new members into the Club from 1st February. Existing members can renew their subs right now. Failure to renew now incurrs a £1 per month fine and our strict door policy means that you will need to be signed in AND pay a £2 visitors fee every time! Remember, membership is only £6.00 a year and you really do reap the benefits. Members Night with half price drinks is worth the years subscriptions alone! | |

| Kitchen | Tenders have now been received to refurbish the club's kitchen which currently resides in the upstairs concert room. We propose to strip out the old kitchen and replace with up to date stainless steel units and equipment, and form a dual hatch to the ante room for service when the concert room is being hired. All will be finished in time for the World Cup Football in June. | |
| New Wine List | After 1 years great response to our new range of wines, we've streamlined our stocks to reflect your most popular tipples and we're also now selling all stocks by the glass. We've also introduced a couple of great new lines for the summer. Following the recent Budget and Brewery increases our wines are now the most competitive in the area, so buy a bottle and settle down in the fully air conditioned interior or sit out in the sun in our fabulous garden or front patio.

| Free & Easy | Happy days are here again! After much deliberation and banging of heads the Earlsdon Free & Easy is once more hosted in our fabulous lounge. Sunday 29th April last year saw record takings for this ever popular event and we listened to members who said what a great day it was and how much better it is back in the lounge. This move has prompted the Committee to re-examine the acoustics of the room. Watch this space or even better get down to the gig and watch the best entertainment in the City on Sunday afternoons at 6.00pm. | |
| Earlsdon Pubwatch | The club have signed up for the Earlsdon Pubwatch scheme which is bit like Neighbourhood Watch but with walkie talkies. The theory is that if there's trouble at one Earlsdon venue and the offending parties are evicted, that venue will then warn all other members of the incident and perpetrators. The walkie talkies are monitored by CV1 Police HQ and they take immediate action when trouble brews. I saw this in action first hand last Saturday teatime when a rowdy bunch of youngsters were making life in the club bar most uncomfortable. The bobbies were called and arrived in force. The over enthusiastic lads were quietly removed from the club. All other participants in the scheme were also aware of what was going on, so the lads were refused entry into all other venues in Earlsdon and encouraged on their way down Albany Road towards town. I love it when a plan comes together. Evenin' all..... | |
| Coventry Freegle Group | I'd had an idea to have a wants and for sale board on the website, but when I looked into doing it, the time and moderation aspects of the venture made it a no-go. It would have worked on the forum but that's sadly under-used for some reason. I have since discovered the Coventry Freegle Group - it's like Ebay but everything is being given away and in the CV postcode catchment area. You can have a look at it here; Sign up with your own yahoo email address and you get emails every day from people just giving stuff away - Televisions, computers, beds, furniture, garden sheds, clothes, bicycles - in fact anything you can think of within reason, all with the intention of recycling rather than sending stuff to the tip. There's also the facility to request things that you want - go on you know it makes sense! | |
| Members Night 2010 | It's that time of year again and all paid up member are invited to a special club night featuring half price drinks, free food, a Las Vegas style casino and a full nights entertainment. It's arranged for Thursday May 27th | |
| Earlsdon Folk Club | After a short spell of inactivity, The Earlsdon Folk Club returns to The Albany Club in Coventry starting this June, once a month on Thursday evenings to be advised. Come along and enjoy the company of great friendly people in a nice welcoming atmosphere. Back at the helm are the entertaining team of MC Irene Davies and sound man General Lee who made it such a successful event a few years ago. We look forward to meeting friends old and new at this very popular event. PA with mics provided. Watch this space for more info | |
| On Line payment facilities | You can now pay for tickets to our regular concerts using Paypal and major credit cards! Many people travel great distances to see some of the acts we put on. This will be really convenient for folks like them, but this facility will also mean that members can now pay for their Christmas & New Years Eve tickets, and even pay their yearly subscription on line and spread the cost! If you give us your email address we can even send you a reminder! At last, an end to those queues in the foyer on Friday nights and Sunday lunchtimes... | |
| Improvements to the Club | FOLLOWING A PERIOD OF INTENSIVE WORK, THE LOUNGE REOPENED ON FRIDAY 29TH AUGUST. YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE TRANSFORMATION - EVERYTHING IS BRAND NEW FROM THE GREAT NEW BAR BY AWARD WINNING CRAFTSMEN "EASE & CO" TO THE LATEST IN STATE OF THE ART LIGHTING, A FANTASTIC NEW TILED FLOOR, TO A VARIETY OF MODERN STYLISH SEATING TO SUIT EVERYONE. WE'VE ALSO GOT A STATE OF THE ART COMPUTERISED MP3 JUKEBOX AND CEILING MOUNTED SPEAKERS THAT WILL JUST BLOW YOU AWAY. THIS ROOM IS NOW FOR HIRE FOR PRIVATE FUNCTIONS AT VERY REASONABLE RATES FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY. CONTACT US FOR FURTHER DETAILS. YOU CAN SEE A SLIDESHOW OF GREAT PICTURES BY LUCY CHICK HERE On a personal note - Nice to see we've at last got shut of the dinosaur and pain in the backside that was the children's room, and that eventually, common sense DOES prevail. This also means that parents are now responsible for, AND MUST ACCOMPANY their children while in all areas of the club AT ALL TIMES as part of health and safety regulations. Now I like/dislike children as much as the next punter, but what I can't stand is our club being used as a free creche/adventure playground/football pitch/assault course........ | |
| Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate | Brand new for the Club is a range of non-alcoholic beverages - Coffee in lots of trendy popular varieties, Freetrade Tea and Hot Chocolate in extremely generous servings. All our coffees are Lavazza which is Italy's most popular brand, freshly made to order and ideal for a mid-morning pick-me-up or a relaxing lunch hour on the new patio or in the garden with a sandwich. What goes around comes around as they say, and so isn't it the case in point here that the Club's first use - as a coffee lounge - when it first opened is back on the agenda all these years later! *ESPRESSO £1.50 a concentrated coffee beverage brewed by forcing very hot water under high pressure through coffee that has been ground to a consistency between extremely fine and powder. Did we say GENEROUS? Our cups are more than TWICE the size of those in M*llsy's and W**thersp**ns!!! | |
| Committee meeting minutes | Transcriptions of Committee meetings are now on display in the foyer. Go on, have a look - you may even be tempted to get involved in the management of the best club in Coventry. Not for the bone idle or faint hearted though - you can't please all of the people all the time. | |
| Real Ale | After literally years of opposition, argument and difficulties in one form or another the Club now sell REAL ALE. Real Ale is now on sale at a very reasonable £2.40 a pint. Our guest ale is Greene King's "Abbot" Ale. Real Ale is now the official tipple of yours truly when I'm in the club and you really should buy me a pint if I'm awake next time you see me! Oh, and by the way, has anyone noticed over at the Arms the barstaff no longer say "enjoy your drink" when serving you but rather "drink responsibly?" If we all drank responsibly Tim Martin would be out of bloody business tomorrow.......
