From the moment Coventry was identified as the next ‘City of Culture’ I decided that I would do something to organise an activity to mark the festivities.

With access being the critical trigger word I shall offer an admission free weekly afternoon ‘Disco’ for Adults of all capabilities. Particularly welcome will be individuals who have mental and/or physical ailments that last for 12 months or more ie. ‘chronic’.

These discos will take place from 5pm every Thursday in the Ground Floor Music Lounge of the Albany Club. All are welcome to join us where I shall stream dance oriented pop tracks from the past 70 years. Alongside each weeks playlist, visitors will be encouraged to request their own favourite ‘boogie tunes’ for inclusion in that week’s or future sets.

Members' Feedback

"Since I have been coming to the Albany (Club) on Thursday afternoons supporting a person who has a learning disability I have noticed a difference as he started to talk and dance with other people, he also talks with Debs behind the Bar."
