New Closing Time Curfew, Compulsory Table Service, 'Rule of Six' and the return of Sunday Lunches

Following the latest Government guidelines we are adopting the new closing times and 'Rule of 6' for both indoor and outdoor seating - 6 people from 6 households (or "social bubbles") to each table. Our furniture is being adapted to ensure this happens and we ask all visitors not to move furniture wherever possible. From Thursday, all drinks will be by table service only (no service at the bar).

From 4th October, Sammy will resume her popular Sunday lunches. All meals will be served in our concert room where it is easier to social distance tables. She will also be offering a takeaway service. More details here

The new curfew comes into force from Thursday 24 September, and our opening hours are;
  • Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 12:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Last orders for drinks at 9:20pm
  • The Club will CLOSE its doors at 10:00pm

We are now taking new memberships. You can download an application form here, or obtain a paper copy from the Secretary or at the bar.

Members are allowed to bring ONE guest into the club and are required to give their guests' contact details at reception or the bar upon entering the club as part of our 'track & trace' system.

  • We have had no major incidents to speak of and business is steadily increasing. The Management Committee meet every week to assess the progress of trade and the safety of our members and staff. It is worth noting that the club has received several comments of praise for the way it has handled the crisis, and how members feel that they are in a safe and comfortable environment within the club.
  • We now have a fob entry system into the car park side gate. Access for members with car park authorisation is now from 10:45 until 09:00 the following day. If you leave your car/van overnight then it must be removed before 9:00 or after 10:45 the following day.
  • You need both your CARD AND FOB to gain entry, as we will not buzz people in or serve anyone without their up to date membership card. The primary reason for this is so that we can ascertain WHO is in the club at any given time in accordance with government requirements. If you have lost your fob and/or card or don't have them available you will need to get new ones in order to use the club. There will be no exceptions. Contact the Secretary to make an appointment if necessary.
  • Numbers are strictly limited and managed due to social distancing requirements. The protection and safeguarding of our staff is also paramount.
  • The smoking area at the front of the club may now be used by up to 4 people at once.
  • CIU Affiliates are now allowed in the club, but will need to show both Membership of the CIU and a current year card.
  • Our pool table which normally resides in the bar is now in the Lounge, and is now available to play every day. The Club will be monitoring this to ensure that social distancing is maintained and that the colourful language normally tolerated in the bar is kept to a bare minimum.

Please observe the notices in the club, and follow club rules;

  • Hand sanitisers are already fitted in key locations throughout the club - please use them sensibly at every opportunity.
  • Face masks must be worn when entering the club and everywhere whilst in the club - visiting the WC, playing pool and snooker, playing the gaming machines. Masks need not be worn while sitting at your table and this is the only exception.
  • No queing or approaching the bar - all drinks will now be brought to your table by a member of staff.
  • Our card payment machines are available in all rooms, we still accept cash but we are encouraging the use of card payments wherever possible. The minimum spend rule is relaxed for the time being.
  • Sadly, our live entertainment schedule is cancelled for the time being. We'll get it back just as soon as we can.

Expect more news here, on Facebook and watch out for our member's newsletter.

New Membership applications are now open. You can download an application form here, or obtain a paper copy from the Secretary and from the barstaff.

We are hoping to have debit & credit card payments by next year’s renewal but sadly, did not manage to find the right provider in the last few months. We apologise for not being able to offer online renewals at this time.

Existing members must renew their membership every year in order to receive benefits like discounted drinks and free entry to the club for sport on TV and live music shows.

The Secretary has to put aside hours when he will not be interrupted.. Members are asked to only knock on his door during the following time periods;

  • Monday 13:00pm – 18:00pm
  • Tuesday 12:00pm – 19:00pm
  • Wednesday is his Day Off
  • Thursday 12:00pm - 17:00pm
  • Friday 12:00pm – 16:00pm
  • Saturday 11:00am – 14:00pm

These times will be for all membership enquiries, lost cards and entry fob activations. Room hire queries and urgent matters will be dealt with by the Secretary any time he is in. Thanks for your co-operation. If in doubt, phone before travelling any distance.
